The Impact of Well-Designed Staircases

Hey everyone! We hope you’ve had a great start to spring and are enjoying the outdoors! This month’s blog is about one of our favorite projects to work on; staircases!

The impact that well-designed staircases can have on your home is impressive. It can be the focal point of your architecture, boast your love for elegance (spiral), and much more.

So, let’s dive in!

WELL-DESIGNED STAIRCASES CAN INCREASE PROPERTY VALUE

When it comes that time to sell your home, a well-designed staircase can give potential buyers that “wow” appeal because who doesn’t appreciate quality craftsmanship?

This, of course, can help you give your home a higher perceived value, as it will enhance the desirability of your interior and can positively influence the overall ambiance of your home.

WELL-DESIGNED STAIRCASES CAN HELP SOUNDPROOF

Staircases can have more roles than just helping you get up and down from levels of your home. They can also help reduce the sound of footsteps and other noises that are associated with the use of staircases.

Now this is the byproduct of a well-designed and properly installed staircase; poor craftsmanship or an incorrect installation can amplify noise rather than reduce it. Our team of professionals pay attention to the little details and will adapt the design based upon your space, which goes a long way and will ensure it’s the perfect fit for your home.

WELL-DESIGNED STAIRCASES CAN GIVE YOU SPACE OPTIMIZATION

We’ve all seen those staircases that incorporate storage into them, whether it was in home magazines or a friend’s home; regardless, staircases can help you optimize storage.

We have built many homes and many different styles of staircases, both simple and complex, that enhance the functionality of the home, such as featuring built-in seating, workstations, even display areas, guest spaces, and more.

All these elements can transform your staircase into a versatile element that goes beyond its primary purpose.

WELL-DESIGNED STAIRCASES CAN IMPROVE SAFETY

This is a big one, and it’s a point that we think doesn’t get talked about enough; stairs that use the proper materials for traction will ensure no one has a slip and fall accident. This is even more important if you have any elderly people living with you or even small children.

Well-designed staircases will also prioritize secure balustrades and handrails to ensure everyone’s safety. We see improper handrail installation far too often, believe it or not, so it’s important when you are looking to hire a company for your stairs that you vet this part of their installation thoroughly.

CONS OF POORLY BUILT STAIRCASES

It’s unfortunate that this even has to be brought up, but yes, if you hire the wrong contractor or one that might not be as experienced with certain spaces, you will get a poorly built staircase, and this can cause major issues such as:

– Compromised safety for those living in the home, which could cause injury or lead to accidents

– Reduced property value for when you try to sell

– Isn’t aesthetically pleasing and doesn’t fit the “theme” of your space, causing it to stick out like a sore thumb

We hope you enjoyed our blog topic on well-designed staircases. They’re such a fun project for our team to work on, and it’s something we always look forward to, and there’s no project that is too complex for us.
