Happy July! We hope you had a great Canada Day long weekend and were able to celebrate our great country with those you love.
Canada Day means that we’re officially in the thick of summer, and it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the warm weather and get those projects done.
It’s been a busy season already for us as we’ve been working on numerous renovation projects already, so we thought this would be the perfect time to write a blog about the BEST summer home renovations that you can do to give you the most bang for your buck.

INSTALL NEW SIDING
There’s nothing better than giving your facade a nice refresh with new siding! Whether it’s changing the colour or the style of your siding, it will be a great way to give a good first impression to buyers if you ever plan on selling.
Another reason to tackle your siding is weather resistance, as loose or missing siding can affect your home’s heating and cooling costs, so it’s important to hire a team to professionally install the siding so you don’t have to worry about any water damage issues from our rainy climate here on Vancouver Island.
REPLACE YOUR ROOF
Summer is the time to get up on the roof and replace your shingles! If you didn’t know, summer is the best time to do so because new shingles need the heat to form a tight seal. Once your roof is installed properly, it will be good for twenty or more years, so it’s a worthwhile investment. If you plan on selling, this is a HUGE plus for many buyers.
As far as material goes, we recommend asphalt shingles as they’re great in rainy climates such as ours. Other options are metal, slate, or tile roofs; some are more expensive than others and come with their own advantages, so make sure you do your due diligence before you install.

Summer is the perfect time to replace any windows that are now inefficient because there’s nothing worse than having a cold or drafty house when winter comes.
Not only will this be a big plus if you sell, but your wallet will thank you as new windows will help you save on home energy costs.
Take it one step further and invest in some new window frames to give each window a nice look.
REPLACE THE GUTTERS
Your gutters are an integral part of your home, as they lead water away from your home and foundation, and over time, they can develop leaks. Replace your gutters to give your home a really nice new look and enhance your home’s curb appeal.
BUILD A DECK
As you know, decks are a staple, especially here on the island, because everyone wants to be outdoors to enjoy our beautiful province.
