Our team is always prepared to work through challenging conditions, putting on our rain gear and adapting as needed to keep projects moving forward.
The key is understanding the environment and planning around it. Knowing when to push ahead and when to prepare for changes is what helps keep projects on track.
THE CHALLENGES OF REMOTE BUILDING
Building in a remote coastal community comes with a unique set of obstacles, especially when it comes to materials and logistics. Unlike larger cities where supplies can often be picked up quickly, projects in Tofino require more planning and coordination.
Materials typically need to be ordered weeks or even months in advance, with deliveries carefully scheduled around transportation timelines. In some cases, supplies are brought in by barge, meaning if something is missed, the next opportunity may not come for weeks.
This level of planning is a major part of working on the West Coast. Strong relationships with suppliers, preparation, and experience all play an important role in keeping projects moving forward.
WHY IT’S ALL WORTH IT
While building on the West Coast comes with its difficulties, it also offers experiences that are hard to find anywhere else. Every project brings something new, from travelling by boat to remote job sites to flying into communities that most people never get the chance to visit.
